№12 Five Exciting Things to Do on Rainy Days

Rain can put quite a disappointing dampener on all our plans for the day, especially during the summer and the spring seasons when all we look forward to is enjoying nature’s beauty at its finest. However, you can always make the best of what you’re dealt with. Rainy days are great to get things done if you’ve been procrastinating for a while – cleaning your home, reorganizing the closet, or even starting a diamond painting project. Do something entirely different on rainy days. If you’re unable to get anything productive done on the next rainy day, here are some incredibly fun activities that you can do like having a day of gaming-filled fun with your family or building a fun fort.

  1. Play Games

If you’ve got nothing else to do outside, have a game night! Get your family members in a single room or call your friends to come over and enjoy a night filled with fun and laughter. You have a virtually unlimited number of options to have fun. You could pick adult box card games like ‘Cards against Humanity’ or ‘What Do You Meme?’ that’ll test your wits. Classic board games like Chutes and Ladders, Monopoly, and Candy Land are great if you’ve got kids in the house.

  1. Build A Small Fort

Even adults can have fun building their very own fort in the living room. But kids especially love building rainy day fort buildings and will definitely pitch in to help you out. There are many ways to create a magical fort – it all comes down to how much you’re prepared to invest in the project. You could hang your sheets in the living room, turning the whole space into one, big fort. Add in a couple of blankets and pillows, and you’re good to go! Another fort building method involves the usage of chairs and tables to prop the blankets up. Use heavy items like books to ensure your fort’s ceiling doesn’t get loose and fall down. You can also build blanket forts, which are aesthetically pleasing, in your bedroom or living room. All you need to do is string a huge bedsheet on a clothing line that extends throughout the room. Start decorating everything to your taste after that!

  1. Keep Yourself Engaged with Some Crafts

Most of us are delighted when it’s a rainy day – more time to craft! Since there’s nothing else to do, it serves as a powerful motivation to get started on a project. Gather your family around and get your diamond painting kits out. You can spend the whole day working on the Unicorn With Baby Unicorn Painting and hang it up by the time the rain is done. You can also add to your scrapbook collection since you have ample time to add fun decorations and pictures. Set goals and hunt them down. Crocheting and knitting are also good crafts to engage in on a rainy day.

      4.     Start Reorganizing Your House

While this isn’t necessarily as exciting as the other options mentioned here, rainy days can motivate you to finally get around to the cleaning, dusting, and reorganizing that your home so badly needs. But there’s no need to pressure yourself into getting it all done immediately. Just pick out one area that needs more love – it could be the kitchen or the office – and organize the mess. Trash anything you have not used in a while and establish a system in place for organizing your things. You can also do a full-scale deep cleaning, which includes dusting decorations, cleaning your kitchen counters, and even scrubbing the insides of the microwave or oven.

  1. Learn a New Cooking Recipe

If you’re unable to go outside for an evening jog, use that time to prepare a special dish, preferably something you’ve never tried before. It’s time to start experimenting with desserts and appetizers from all over the world. Heck, you could even prepare a full three-course meal to satisfy the dormant chef in you. Rainy days are the perfect time to polish up on your cooking skills.

Don’t Let A Rainy Day Go to Waste

We get it, rainy days suck! But if you’re bored and have nothing better to do due to the weather, don’t waste the time away doing nothing. Accomplish some of those goals you’ve always wanted to do but never got around to due to your serial procrastination. A game night, painting a masterpiece like the Ghost Cat painting, a cooking adventure, a game night – you’ve got so many different ways to have fun!
